Windows

Windows runs Microsoft software such as Access and MS SQL databases. Windows servers also offer Web developers the use of Microsoft’s programming environments such as Active Server Pages (ASP), Visual Basic Scripts, and MS Index Server.

Linux

Linux supports a wide range of software, applications, languages, and databases. However, Linux is not fully compatible with some Microsoft technologies. If you are already using Access databases, ASP, ASP.NET, MS SQL, or VB development tools, then Windows hosting is a better choice.

In IIS 7, Value Applications applications requiring PHP 5 can not be installed on sub-domains or aliased domains which point to sub-directories.

Incorrect Password

If you do not enter the correct password for your domain hosting account, FileZilla produces the following error:

Command: PASS **********
Response: 530 Login authentication failed
Error: Critical Error
Error: Could not connect to server

To correct this issue, you need to reset your password (Web & Classic / cPanel / Plesk).

Incorrect User Name

If you do not enter the correct user name, FileZilla does not produce a unique error.

However, if you are not sure of your hosting account’s user name, you can find it in your control panel (Web & Classic / cPanel / Plesk).

Incorrect DNS Information

Your domain name must point to your hosting account. This happens by pointing your domain name’s DNS A record to your hosting account’s IP address. If you don’t know precisely what that means, don’t worry. You can use this information to check the issue.

To Check Your Domain Name’s DNS Information

  1. Find and note your hosting account’s IP address (Web & Classic / cPanel / Plesk).
  2. Check your domain name’s A record, and change it if necessary. For more information, see Manage DNS . You are looking for the A (Host) record with @ in its Host column. It should match your hosting account’s IP address.

Other DNS Connectivity Issues

There might be other issues affecting your ability to connect to your hosting account using FileZilla that you can solve by using a different value as your Host in FileZilla.

Try entering the following as your Host in FileZilla, instead of your domain name (in each example, replace coolexample.com with your domain name):

  • Your hosting account’s IP address.
  • ftp.coolexample.com
  • ftp://coolexample.com
  • ftp://your IP address, for example, ftp://1.1.1.1

Cheapest domain hosting guide – If you’re new to hosting, this article will help you get started.

1. Set up Your Cheap Domain Hosting Account

Without setting up your hosting account, you can’t do anything with it. So, check out Set up your account.

After you purchase a hosting plan, you need to set it up before you can use it to host your website.

  1. Log in to your IFindHost – Cheap Domain Registration, Cheapest Domain Hosting Service account.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  4. Select or enter the domain name you want to use.
  5. Click Upload Your Site.
  6. If your domain name isn’t currently registered here, select your transfer options.
  7. If your domain name isn’t pointed toward our DNS servers, resolve the issues or skip this step.
2. Upload Your Website

After setting up your hosting account, you need to get your website’s files on it. There are a number of ways to do this, including using the application you used to build your website and using an FTP client.

You probably only need to use one of these.

3. Preview Your Site

Once you have your website uploaded, check it out using Preview DNS. For more information, see Preview your website.

  1. Log in to your IFindHost account.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  4. In the Server Details section, click Show details
  5. Click Preview to display your primary domain’s DNS information.
  6. If Preview DNS is not already enabled for your account, click Enable. If it has expired, click Renew.

    If Preview DNS is enabled, click Preview.

If you don’t see your website (oh no!), make sure you have an “index file.”

To see if you have a default file, open up your FTP client/website application and make sure you have one of the files listed in the top level of your hosting account, also known as “the root.”

4. Make Your Site Live

Depending on how you configured your hosting account, your website might already be live. Check it out by going to your domain name.

If it’s not live, you probably need to update your DNS

Cheapest Domain Hosting – Add a CNAME Record

CNAME stands for Canonical Name. CNAME records can be used to alias one name to another.

A CNAME (Alias) record points to an A (Host) record. You can create multiple CNAME records and point them to an A record. The most common CNAME records are the subdomains www and ftp.

CNAME records make your DNS data easier to manage. If you change the IP address of an A record, all CNAME records pointed to that A record automatically follow the new IP address. The alternative solution, multiple A records, is not as simple as using CNAME records.

To add a CNAME record
    1. Log in to your IFindHost – Cheapest Domain Hosting, Cheap Domain Registration Services – account.
    2. On your product list next to Domains, click the Text Icon (plus sign button) to expand the list:

    1. Next to the domain you want to manage, under the Action section, click on theManage DNS button:

  1. At the bottom of the Records section, click Add and select CNAME from the drop-down list.
  2. Complete the other fields:
    • Name – Enter the subdomain name for the alias assignment. For example, type www.

      The subdomain can include a period (.) but not as the first or last character. Consecutive periods (…) are not allowed. A subdomain cannot exceed 25 characters.

    • Value – Enter the host name you want the alias to point to. For example, type@ to map the alias directly to your domain name.
    • TTL – Select how long the server should cache the information.
  3. Click Save.
To add a CNAME record for domains registered at another company
    1. From the top menu, click the DNS tab, and select Manage Zones.

  1. Enter the domain name you want to use and click Search.
  2. At the bottom of the Records section, click Add and select CNAME from the drop-down list.
  3. Complete the other fields:

About application installations for subdomain or non-primary domain

The process to install Value Applications applications differs depending on where you want to install it:

Subdomains

Subdomains are prefixes to your website’s URL. Any domain hosting account can use subdomains of any domain name it hosts.

For example, you could create blog.coolexample.com orstore.coolexample.com on the hosting account for coolexample.com, where blog andstore are subdomains, and then install applications on any of them.

To Install Applications on Subdomains

  1. Log in to your IFindHost – Cheap Domain Registration, Cheapest Domain Hosting Service account.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
  4. Add the subdomain to the hosting account. (Note the folder you create or select for your subdomain)
  5. In the Popular Apps panel of the Hosting Control Panel, click Show All.
  6. From the Categories menu, click the category you want to view, and then click the application you want to install.
  7. Click Install Now. This button appears only when a compatible hosting plan resides in your account. For a subscription application, click Subscribe Now.
  8. Select the domain name you want to use and click Next.
  9. If the value application requires a database, enter a database description and password, and then click Next.
  10. Enter the folder you previously specified when you added the subdomain to the hosting account. If you leave the directory blank, installation occurs in the root directory. If configuration information is required, click Next. Otherwise, clickFinish.
  11. Enter configuration information, if required. Click Finish.
  • Install the application in the folder you created or selected for the subdomain.
Non-Primary Domain Names

If you have a Deluxe, Premium, Unlimited, or Ultimate hosting account, you can host multiple domain names’ websites on one hosting account. We call these “secondary” domain names non-primary domain names.

For example, if you set your hosting account’s primary domain name is coolexample.com, you can add hosting for coolexample.net andcoolexamples.org, and then install applications on any of them.

To Install Applications on Non-Primary Domain Names

  1. Add the domain name to the hosting account.
  2. Install the application you want to use.

Install Joomla For Your Cheapest Domain Hosting

Joomla!® is a personal publishing platform, or content management system, that you can use to set up a website.

This process does not work for free hosting accounts and secondary or aliased domain names on Windows® hosting accounts. You must manually install Joomla! with these types of hosting accounts.

  8. Select the domain name you want to use.
  9. Enter a database description and password, and then click Next.
  10. Choose an installation directory, and then click Next.

    To install Joomla in your root directory, leave this field empty.

  11. Enter the Admin Name, Admin Password, and Email for your Joomla installation.
  12. Click Finish.
